Parent questions

Joining FAQs.

Can my child join if they have never played before?

Contact Suzanne with your child’s age and experience. She can discuss the relevant group and current availability, and help you agree a suitable next step.

Do you have teams for girls and boys?

Yes. Bolton Town has girls’ and boys’ teams, development groups and adult football. Use the age checker above, then explore the team pages and contact the club to discuss a place.

Can we just turn up to training?

Please arrange your first visit with the club. Training details are on each team page, but the team needs to confirm availability and know you are attending.

Is the first session free?

Boys and girls in school Years 1 and 2 receive free training for the remainder of the calendar month they join. Fees start the following month. WanderHERS offers a free first session. For other junior age groups, please confirm any first-session charge before attending.

Where will my child train?

Venues and training times vary by team. Read the relevant team page, then confirm the venue and meeting point with the coach. The Parents’ Hub has venue directions and guidance.

Do we need to buy the club kit straight away?

Ask the coach before buying anything. Wear suitable sports clothing for your agreed first session. The costs summary above separates membership, subscriptions, kit purchases and optional items.

What if my child needs extra support?

Tell the club when you enquire and speak privately with the coach before attending. Discuss your child’s needs and the arrangements that may help. You can also contact the club’s safeguarding team.

What happens after the first session?

Speak with the coach about the next step and any available place. If you are joining, the club will explain registration and payments through TeamFeePay. Places cannot be guaranteed.
